The lectures teach the fundamentals of unmanned aviation. We build on the course participants existing knowledge of manned aviation. The participants learn about the commonalities of manned and unmanned aviation, but also about the differences between the two. They will be sensitized for the facts, that civilian unmanned aviation is still in an early phase and that the environment is very dynamic in all aspects. Enabeling technologies develop rapidly, laws and regulations are in the making, the integration of unmanned aircraft in the existing air traffic system has not happend yet.  The lectures reflect the present state of the art and try to give a realistic prospect on the future development.

The labs evaluate the potential of unmanned aircraft by the example of specific use cases. For this, the course participants will form teams. Each team decides for a specific use case and defines a precise scenario for this case. The use case will be gradually developed as the lectures content advances. When labs end, the course participants should have developed a feel, where and how drones can be used in the future, but also where the limitations of this new technology are.
