The meaningful use of data in healthcare has great potential to improve the quality and efficiency of medical care and to personalize it. Using the Swiss healthcare system as an example, we will explore where healthcare data is generated, which important technologies are involved, which regulatory guidelines apply; and what the current challenges are for using clinical data.
